Same Song - Different Verse

Hello again all my...what the heck...no need to go into all that. You know where you are and what you're reading. November 16th and 17th Report. The Chuckler Wrote: Ditto here on all accounts. I was so excited by the forecasts and so starved for action.............then so disappointed in the outcome. Went real early Monday with no sign of moisture in the air or on the ground, nice and cloudy and a pretty good north wind.....so thought it could happen anytime. Started hearing geese just before the opening. Then started seeing a few bunches of snows and blues high. Over half the groups were heading north up river at migrating height. Then saw some flocks of ducks al at 2,500-5,000 ft and above heading south. At that point was still convinced it was going to turn into a memorable day. Never did! All told, saw about 20 flocks of ducks and about 20 flocks of geese (mostly snows and blues). Had a small flock of each circle us at 5,000 ft........so did get some practice blowing the call!!!!!!! The flights slowed down as the morning drug on. We quit seeing birds about 9:30-10:00 AM.........pulled the plug about noon. Even though no shots, it felt good to be seeing birds again! On the way to lunch the forecasters assured us that there was just a temporary delay in the rain and snow for the area, with most of the heavy stuff falling to our south. They were still assuring us that we were going to get flight lowering conditions tomorrow. Our spirits refreshed we committed to Tuesday morning. Stars were visible out the bedroom window as I arose Tuesday. Clouds were clearing out as we walked to the blind. Had 3, blue wings, about 10 yards off the deck at sunrise.........waited for another pass that never came. Ended up being the only potential shot of the morning. Saw about 2 or 3 other small bunches of mallards trading around, but we apparently didn't get enough of the right practice with the calls yesterday! We sent them all your way! About 8:00 the sun came out in beautiful full force......announcing the beginning of a "blue bird day". About 9:30 we saw and heard a group of a dozen Canadians loafing down river looking for a spot. They were just over the trees........ and we pleaded with them to come closer! They wouldn't have any......and continued on down river. About 10 minutes later they were coming back up river, on the Nebraska side. For a few moments, I thought perhaps they might have reconsidered our offer. Not to be. We sent them on toward Tekamah. Nothing for 2 hours.......so quit at noon. All in all........ was hoping for more.......but good to see some birds. It is hard to keep an addicted waterfowler down. What amazes me.........is how can the forecasts be so far, far off......for not one........but two days in a row???????? Had planned to check in with you all earlier. Good looking Canadas on the web site!!!!! Keep up the good work! Maybe should have been in the blind this morning???!!!

Keep checking back for the latest and greatest and thanks for all the hits. Send us your report!
