We've been catching some heat about not posting the last week or so. Well, there ain't nothin' to write about in the world of duck hunting. We haven't received any teal or early goose reports so there is nothing but a lot of waiting going on right now. Which leads me to the discussion of the day. Remember when...
...you could watch the weather and know you we're going to shoot birds
...canvas waders were the bomb
...neoprene was something only scuba divers had
...your coffee got cold
...a wooden duck call sounded great
...everyone blew a big river goose call
...the robo duck first came out and you actually got up the nerve to use it
...you realized that the rabbit fur hat was a good idea
...you made up stories as to why you weren't able to go to work, oh wait we still do that
...desoto bend actually held birds
...heaters were for sissy's
...you had to carry a plastic bag so the Polaroids wouldn't get wet
...3 and 1/2 inches was a metophor
..."the day" was
Ah...there it is! THE DAY. The one moment in our waterfowling lives that we will remember forever. THE DAY when it all came together. We all have at least one, and perhaps even 3 or 4, but THE DAY is what keeps us coming back. The 100+ bird day, the snow blowin' blizzard 4 man brave sole canada goose limit day, the why did we leave so early day, the send someone to the store for more bullets day, the iced in blind ain't no birds flyin' why am I here day. No matter what your recollection of THE DAY is, it's the one thing your nagging wife can't take away. I'm sorry did I say that out loud? That's all for now, check back for the latest and greatest and thanks for all the hits. Youth season and live Ditch footage only a few days away. Send us your report.
